In Memory of Beirut Survivors 10-23-07 - 24 Years Ago On October 23, 1983, 241 Marines were killed in their sleep during the bombing of the Marine barracks
in Beirut, Lebanon. For almost 30 days, Lieutenant Bonnie J. (Caceres) Tierney was the Mass Casualty
Officer at Rhein Main Air Base in Frankfurt, Germany, assigned to help identify and process the body
parts. Day after day, she did her duty, while trying to detach from the horror
of it all.
The Beirut Memorial is an online Memorial dedicated to the young men and women who lost their lives
in this attack. "They Came in Peace" Semper Fidelis
My husband was a survivor of this vicious attack and to this day it is still too emotional to talk about the
events that happened on that day. Time stood still for a brief moment and took so many precious lives.
May God Bless continue to bless those who fight to defend the Red, White and Blue.
