STARs & BARs Patriotic Plantation Estate Every one is always wanting to know what is the significance of the name of our estate. After touring 90 Plantation houses in the South, one of the most significant times in history was from 1861-1865, aka the War Between the States. As was custom in the South, names were given to Plantation Estates based on some significant meaning. We chose Stars & Bars based on the fact, that no other plantation estate in history was named this and this fit our love for Stars and the history of the South. Below is more information on the 1st National Flag aka "Stars & Bars".
Don Troiani, a Civil War artist has a painting called Stars & Bars - http://www.troiani.com which is highlighted on the estate. We have collected all Don Troiani's works and have the most extensive collection of civil war art. Even he is amazed that we love his paintings and continue to collect his paintings. Stars & Bars Estate History Many ask me, what is the significance of the Star. There is a special meaning, a Star is the highest light that shines, in biblical terms, referred to as a Guiding Light or IMO God's Eyes. On the Plantation, there are four six foot stars, one for each branch of the military: Navy, Air Force, Army & Marine Corps. And one Bronze Star which hangs above the entry door, signifying, there is only one Most High. And living a significant part of my life in Texas may have contributed to my extensive star design & collections. I love unique and unusual stars. Note: The front door of the house is mahagony and was designed by an artist outside of Houston, Texas. It is 100% lead crystal with the finest mahogany accenting the etched stars and designs. It is absolutely a one of kind and unusual to be found in this part of the country. The door bell is from an old plantation house in New York, it is all mechanical, patented and May, 1883 and has a great ring tone. This was a great find for the estate back in 2004 while antiquing in New York.
WITTROCK FAMILY This Wittrock Family History page is a collection of facts, stories, records and lore about our Wittrock ancestors and kin. We hope it will someday tell the complete family story. Here is a link to the history of our family: "There are people that cross our lives in tiny fractions of time and the briefest of encounters and yet they leave an indebtable mark in our hearts forever". Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont - 2006 - added the word 'forever' to the end JR Jacqueline R. |
