   This year is starting off with several fires, similar to previous bad years with acres burned to date
   being 8,251,278. Number of fires year to date is 76,451.

Facts:
   In Montana, more than 400,000 acres have burned, half the size of the State of Rhode Island.
  

Governor Schweitzer called for Special Legislative Session for Sept. 5th to get additional emergency funds

in the amount of $60 million from the general fund to continue efforts in fighting wildfires thru the end of the year.
