Bucket List

One of the items on my unofficial "Bucket List" happened a couple of weeks ago. I thought it would be interesting to make
a final table playing cards. My kids are hoping that this summer, there will be an "Impossible Pool" magically appear in the
back yard. Well, I have been meeting with a pool architect to see how plans are coming along. And a couple of weeks ago,
I was on my way to the gym, Joe texted me and said, I am at "Players" and have some updated plans. I said "Great", I will
stop by and pick them up. Well, Joe is quite the character, who designs fabulous, impossible pools and also plays 'Texas
Hold'em. When I arrived, he was playing in the tourney and after a few hands quickly lost. After talking for a bit and making
some comments about the plans, out of the blue, he said, "you are entered in a Black Jack Tourney". I said "I am" - Click Here...
Then said, "What, I don't gamble and I am not sure I know how to compete in a card tourney". First, I was shocked, then realized he
would be in this tourney and I could just watch.....no, this is not how this all works, you draw cards for seating and table assignments.
You start with 100 chips in two stacks to begin the first round. Ernie explained the rules and prepped me on the game and I took
my seat. The highest two chip leaders advance to the Final Table after 15 hands. After the first 5 hands, the professional to the left
asked me if I realized that I had been betting $50 dollars per hand. I just laughed and said, I think I got the two chips mixed up
and continued to play. On the last two hands, I went "ALL IN" and on the last hand got a Black Jack making the Final Table.
There were six who made it to the final table and I had beat out the local favorites, playing for $1000. Well, I started off at a good
pace and then got bored when it was down to two of us and went "ALL IN" and lost. It was a great experience and they invited me
back, but I am not a card player, but to all of those at Players, I had a great time and will remember this for a very long time.
THE APPEAL
By John Grisham
John Grisham's new book is one of his best, it is exciting, political and about the insurance sector and big shot
corporate executives and lawyers who play with people's lives with their power. Of course, money is involved and
the suspense of what is going to happen is ideal for an avid reader. I expect this to be another number one best
seller. I do not like that Mr. Grisham leaves dangling characters and story lines, maybe, it makes for a better ending.
The ending was a complete surprise
