The big, white-columned house Presley bought in 1957
for just over $100,000 draws close to 600,000 visitors a
year, and for a week around the anniversary of his death on
Aug. 16, 1977, it attracts legions of his still-adoring fans.

One of Elvis's prize possessions was this pink cadillac.
While attending college in Memphis, I had the great pleasure
of having my picture taken on this car on a private tour. It
will be posted as soon as it can be scanned.

Ironically, this year, I turned 42. A month prior to his death my
parents had attended a concert in Oklahoma City. They paid
$25 dollars for each ticket and 20 people squished in a booth
to hear him sing.

In 1977, I was 11 years old when Elvis died. We all remember
what we were doing on that day regardless of how old we were.
We remember the shock of hearing Breaking News, the King
of Rock and Roll Elvis Presley has died. It was heart breaking.

“Some people tap their feet, some people snap their fingers,
and some people sway back and forth. I just sorta do ‘em all
together, I guess.”
-Elvis in 1956, talking about his way of moving on stage.
Note: This was one of the first Mansions that I toured in 1987
while attending a private university. While designing our estate,
I remembered the statue four large columns and gable. It was
breath taking and captured my attention immediately. We
incorporated this on Side 4 of our house and the nice rounded
walk way to the main entrace on Side 1 including the large urns.
This house was magnificent to tour and is currently under major
renovation. It will re-open in 2008. It was built for a "King".
