Toastmaster - Comes full Circle
In the early 90's while at Sprint in Texas, I helped charter Fontalk Toastmasters and served
as President for two years. This club is still in existence today and doing well. After attending
the Toastmasters Ball on November 10th, 1993, my life changed instantly and the story
quickly swept through the TI community. What are the odds of meeting someone born on the
same day in an elevator, marrying on that day 9 months later and having the same last two
digits of 99 for social security numbers? It is more than ten million to one or higher. After
moving from Texas to Hawaii, I dropped out of Toastmasters after achieving ATM or DTM
status until recently. At Itron HQ in Washington, I am once again helping charter a new club.
Today, I received the Sparky Award and gave a speech called "When Life Becomes Precious".
It has been more than 15 years since I gave a speech, the last one was for my DTM with Fontalk.
